Georgian president congratulated the professional day to the sailors

“Sailors are important part of Georgian Society”, - Mikheil Saakashvili addressed sailors gathered in Batumi port with these words. He opened event dedicated to the international day of sailors.

According to him, 18 thousand Georgian citizens protect the world oceans. 

“This is a serious, hard, responsible, full of danger, but at the same time very elevated, romantic, interesting, very intelligent and time-consuming profession. Georgia has a great tradition. We have always had good captains. This 18 thousand people are an important part of our economy and the revival of this city”, - Georgian President said.

According to him, sailors notice the most the interesting epoch in which Georgia lives now.

Georgian Sailors - released captives of Somali piracy were in Batumi port too.
