The
Vice-Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze, met with the chairperson of OSCE
Parliamentary Assembly’s Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues
Committee, Matteo Mecacci.
At the
meeting the sides discussed OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s role in the process
of peaceful resolution of Georgian-Russian conflict.
Also,
they emphasized necessity of strengthening international community’s political
and diplomatic pressure on Russia
and monitoring situation on the occupied territories of Georgia by
international organizations.
Giorgi
Baramidze talked about necessity of de-occupation of Georgian territories and
return of refugees, who came from the occupied territories, back to their
homes.
The
Minister also discussed the ongoing democratic reforms in Georgia, spoke about the importance of holding
democratic parliamentary elections in Georgia and about the role of OSCE
Democratic Institutions and Human rights offices in these processes.
