On the Parliament session today, the bill “about consulate activities”
has been initiated, according to which, functions of the Georgian consulates in
foreign countries will be revised.
As the Government Parliamentary Secretary, Gia Khuroshvili said,
according the amendments, a consul will have right to provide consultancy
services both – to Georgian and foreign citizens.
According to him, project says that a consul will assist Georgian
citizens no matter of their status in certain countries, including illegal
visitors.
“For popularization of Georgia, it is important that consuls will be
able to give advices to those foreigners who want to come to Georgia for
investment, tourism or visiting resorts and they want to get information”, -
Khuroshvili said.
According to the information of Government Parliamentary Secretary,
after the parliament adopts changes, Foreign Affairs Ministry will work out
recommendations.
