NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has posted on his official “Facebook” page information about Georgia in the alliance’s Chicago summit context. As Rasmussen writes, “Georgia and NATO have a special partnership and a strong relationship. This was reflected in Georgia being present in all 3 of the partnership meetings.” Secretary General states that the NATO allies appreciate Georgia’s commitment to find peaceful solutions for the disputes in the Caucasus and the efforts to increase trust with Russia. “At the Bucharest Summit NATO said Georgia would become a member. Today, this decision has been restated. There is still work to be done, as the way into NATO is not an easy one. But Georgia is committed and making progress. We encourage Georgia to stay the course,” – writes Rasmussen. internet.ge
