Georgian President delivered a speech at Partners Forum for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations

As Mikheil Saakashvili said, Georgia is a small country, but we stand on the crossroad of big civilizations.

According to the first person of the country, Georgia is a laboratory and the model, which shows that peaceful co-existence, is possible by maintaining identity.

“Dialogue of cultures, religions and civilizations is very important, the processes that we see now this is a new formation of forces’ balance. Today, the new balance is defined by new ideas and new opportunities, which comes sometimes from large and sometimes from small countries. We also see that Turkey acquires status of the main leader in east, as an initiator of peace and the state with different vision of events”, - the President said.

According to Saakashvili, despite various attempts to confront ethnic and religious groups to each-other, the country still manages to keep united and peaceful co-existence.

“We are a small country, but we stand on the crossroad of big civilizations. All the dominants had their positions towards Georgia. Since the day of our independence, Turkey has been supporting and encouraging Georgia, tried to help us stand up and offered us new opportunities. I felt that from the very first days of my presidency. We are ready to build bridges between the cultures, and fight against all kinds of crusades, I think it is our responsibility”, - Saakashvili said.
