The State Audit service released statement regarding the fact of payment of the fine by the leader of the coalition “Georgian drema”, Bidzina Ivanishvili.


As it is said in the statement, the State Audit Office will continue to react to all violations of the law in order to eradicate political corruption and counter violations of norms on the transparency of political finances.


“On June 2012, Bidzina Ivanishvili was sanctioned for having violated the Organic Law of Georgia on Political Unions of Citizens for the acts of political corruption and illegal contributions. The total fine amounted to 148 650 131 GEL. On June 15, 2012, the through the decision of the Appellate Court the fine was halved.


On July 24, 2012, Bidzina Ivanishvili paid the obligation imposed on him by the law in the amount of 74 325 065,65 GEL to cover the fine and 5 202 754,60 GEL to cover the enforcement fee.”
