Tripartite Memorandum on implementation of primary healthcare in the penitentiary system was signed by the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia (MCLA), The Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia ( MoLHSA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation (ICRC). The agreement aims at equipment of primary healthcare medical units, professional growth of medical staff, permanent screening of inmates and provision of maximum access to medical services. According to Memorandum, project monitoring will be implemented by the ICRC delegation. Minister of the MCLA – Ms. Khatuna Kalmakhelidze noted that primary healthcare reform plays an instrumental role in improvement of the penitentiary healthcare quality and accessibility. At present, the penitentiary primary healthcare pilot model is operational in two penitentiary establishments and according to Memorandum, it will be gradually introduced in each one by the end of this year. internet.ge
