Inmates have been awarded with certifications certifying successful completion of professional educational courses at the Penitentiary Establishment №15.

The project aims to make professional education accessible at all penitentiary establishments, reengage inmates in educational processes, deepen their knowledge and skills as well as to provide them with employment opportunities.

The Ministry believes, the project supports re-socialization of inmates and prevention of reoccurrence of crime.

Representatives of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia, the Technical University and project managers attended award ceremony.

The above mentioned project at the Penitentiary Establishment №15 was implemented with the support of the US State Department.

Educational houses are operational at the Penitentiary Establishments №5, №14, №15, and №16.

Educational houses will soon be operational at other correctional establishments as well.

This year more than 300 inmates were awarded with certificates of professional education.
