According to information of the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Zurab Chiaberashvili, distribution of food aid will start in Telavi today.

Kakheti population will receive compensations from the next week
Distribution of compensations to the disaster-affected population will be started from the next week. The statement about it was made by the Georgian president. According to him, the disaster consequences liquidation works should finish rapidly and the losses of population should be compensate timely.

Khetaguri: gas supply of Kakheti will be fully restored in 2 days
According to the information of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia, Alexandre Khetaguri, the gas supplying will be restored and returned to the normal regime in 2 days. Khetaguri said, the problem of water will be resolved till the end of the day.

The amount allocated for compensation of victims of natural disaster is already known
According to the statement of the Prime-Minister, Vano Merabishvili, those, whose harvest was completely destroyed, will receive aid of 1300-1500 Gel; those, whose harvest was destroyed on 70 % will get 800 – 900 Gel; and those, who has 50% of harvest destroyed will be handed 300-500 Gel compensation.

A memorandum between the Public Defender office and the Association of Social Workers was concluded
The Public Defender of Georgia, George Tugushi, and the Head of the Association of Social Workers, Salome Namicheishvili, concluded a memorandum of cooperation. As it is noted on the official web-page of the Ombudsman, the cooperation of the parties aims at supporting the development of social work as a rights advocacy profession to ensure the protection of human rights and freedoms in Georgia. In the framework of the memorandum, a number of events, in particular, working meetings, inter-sector trainings, seminars, will be held, which will contribute to the development and popularization of social work as a rights advocacy profession. The association will also ensure providing methodological consultations within its competence in the process of monitoring of the protection of human rights and freedoms. The parties also agreed that they will plan different activities together.
